Psalms 76:1-2 (CSB) 1 God is known in Judah; his name is great in Israel. 2 His tent is in Salem, his dwelling place in Zion.
As promised I found God's target.
Psalms 76:1-2 (CSB) 1 God is known in Judah; his name is great in Israel. 2 His tent is in Salem, his dwelling place in Zion.
This talks of the four ways God is known in our lives. First Judah knows of God. This may reflect the people in the world who may still have a general knowledge of God. Second Israel has a deeper respect for God. This could be the church who should have a better understanding of who God is. Third Salem, Jerusalem, is the place where God has set up camp. These are the ones who sees God moving and follows. These people spend time for themselves reading, praying and just generally spending time with God. Last of all we have Zion where God lives. These are the people who through praise enters into the holy of holies because He inhabits the praise of His people (Psalm 22:3). As you see there is less and less people in each group. But God wants us all in Zion! I was meditating on the verses that say "depart from Me for I never knew you." And I think God showed me that to the degree we know God is the degree He knows us. Sure He has all of our hairs numbered. He supplies us with our needs. But I am talking about knowing us in our heart. He loves us but without a change of heart God does not know us. Without repentance God can not accept us into His kingdom. Sure it is impossible to know God fully for His ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts, but that does not change the fact that God wants to be know by man (Isaiah 55:6-11, Matthew 2:1-2, Psalm 8). I want to be someone who knows God to the deepest level and not just superficially. I want to be in the center and not barely hanging on the edges. I want to be a Peter more than I want to be the twelve, more then the 70, more than the great multitude of people.
John 21:15-17 (CSB) 15 When they had eaten breakfast, Jesus asked Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these? " "Yes, Lord," he said to him, "you know that I love you." "Feed my lambs," he told him. 16 A second time he asked him, "Simon, son of John, do you love me? " "Yes, Lord," he said to him, "you know that I love you." "Shepherd my sheep," he told him. 17 He asked him the third time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me? " Peter was grieved that he asked him the third time, "Do you love me? " He said, "Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you." "Feed my sheep," Jesus said.
Mark 3:14 (CSB) He appointed twelve, whom he also named apostles, to be with him, to send them out to preach,
John 6:66-69 (CSB) 66 From that moment many of his disciples turned back and no longer accompanied him. 67 So Jesus said to the Twelve, "You don't want to go away too, do you? " 68 Simon Peter answered, "Lord, to whom will we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69 "We have come to believe and know that you are the Holy One of God."
Matthew 12:15 (CSB) Jesus was aware of this and withdrew. Large crowds followed him, and he healed them all.
