Romans 6:16 (CSB) Don't you know that if you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of that one you obey -- either of sin leading to death or of obedience leading to righteousness?
We either belong to one kingdom or another. We cannot have dual citizenship in God's kingdom and the world. We will obey one king and not obey the other. The devil is the king of this world (Ephesians 2:1-3). The one we obey is the one we offer our allegiance too.
John 14:15,21, 23(CSB) "If you love me, you will keep my commands.21 The one who has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. And the one who loves me will be loved by my Father. I also will love him and will reveal myself to him. 23 Jesus answered, "If anyone loves me, he will keep my word. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.
Our love for Christ is totally dependent on our willingness to obey. When we obey we love God. When we love God, God loves us back and Jesus will show Himself to us. Why does the world not see their need for Jesus? We Christians are not showing them a need for Jesus. We are showing them a picture that looks a lot like the world.
Mark 3:14-15 (CSB) 14 He appointed twelve, whom he also named apostles, to be with him, to send them out to preach, 15 and to have authority to drive out demons.
Matthew 28:20 (CSB) "teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
Acts 4:13 (CSB) When they observed the boldness of Peter and John and realized that they were uneducated and untrained men, they were amazed and recognized that they had been with Jesus.
Jesus' call to the disciples was to be with Him for the next 3 years. At the end of those 3 years Jesus promised that He will be with them until the end of the world. The world then perceived that they had been with Jesus. Does the world see that we have been with Jesus? Or does it still see us as being in the world?
Romans 12:2 (CSB) Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.
