“How happy are those whose way is blameless, who live according to the Lord’s instruction! Happy are those who keep His decrees and seek Him with all their hearts. They do nothing wrong; they follow His ways. You have commanded that Your precepts be diligently kept. If only my ways were committed to keeping Your statutes! Then I would not be ashamed when I think about all Your commands. I will praise You with a sincere heart when I learn Your righteous judgments. I will keep Your statutes; never abandon me.” Psalms 119:1-8

Psalm 119 is divided into 22 eight verse sections, one for each letter of Hebrew. A letter of the Hebrew is the title of each section, just like Lamentations 1-4. The title of verses 1-8 is Aleph (pronounced "ah-lef") the first letter in Hebrew. The Greek equivalent is Alpha. Aleph represents God.

With God in mind, the Psalmist wrote verses 1-8

“How happy are those whose way is blameless, who live according to the Lord’s instruction!”
Psalms 119:1 HCSB

Without God, the world would have no blameless viewpoint. Today the world wants to say that whatever floats your own boat goes. But God says my way is what will float your boat. The only way to find out how God says to live is found in His instructions.

“Happy are those who keep His decrees and seek Him with all their heart.”
Psalms 119:2 HCSB

God’s decrees keep us inline and fill our lives with hope and not regret of sin. When we seek God with all our heart God meets us more than halfway.

“They do nothing wrong; they follow His ways.”
Psalms 119:3 HCSB

It is not about us but we humbly submit to God’s ways. He is the breath in our lungs and the life in our blood.

“You have commanded that Your precepts be diligently kept.”
Psalms 119:4 HCSB

God’s precepts are the only Moral Law in this universe and God tells us what they are and how to obey them. When you create your own universe out of nothing you can make the rules.

“If only my ways were committed to keeping Your statutes!”
Psalms 119:5 HCSB

The letter Aleph is an X shape made from two other Hebrew letters. The long part of the X is made from the letter Vav (Psalm 119:41-48) — which is man — and is turned down as a humbled man bowed to God. The only way we can humble before God is to commit to keeping His statutes.

“Then I would not be ashamed when I think about all Your commands.”
Psalms 119:6 HCSB

God keeps humbling us because of how awesomely holy He is. If we ever think we have it all together He reminds us that His ways are higher than our ways.

“I will praise You with a sincere heart when I learn Your righteous judgments.”
Psalms 119:7 HCSB

God does not force us to praise Him, but the more we learn His righteous judgments the more we want to praise Him.

“I will keep Your statutes; never abandon me.”
Psalms 119:8 HCSB

Our cry should be the same we want to obey You, God. Never leave us alone to our own devices. God is faithful He will not leave us alone.
