“My life is down in the dust; give me life through Your word. I told You about my life, and You listened to me; teach me Your statutes. Help me understand the meaning of Your precepts so that I can meditate on Your wonders. I am weary from grief; strengthen me through Your word. Keep me from the way of deceit and graciously give me Your instruction. I have chosen the way of truth; I have set Your ordinances before me. I cling to Your decrees; Lord, do not put me to shame. I pursue the way of Your commands, for You broaden my understanding.” Psalms 119:25-32 HCSB

The fourth letter of the Hebrew alphabet and the title of verses 25-23 is called "Dalet" (pronounced "dah-let"). Dalet is a humbled man listening for the Gimmel —The Holy Spirit.

“My life is down in the dust; give me life through Your word.”
Psalms 119:25 HCSB

The humble man has nothing to bring to God and He has to remain in God for his worth.

“I told You about my life, and You listened to me; teach me Your statutes.”
Psalms 119:26 HCSB

Just as God does listen to our prayers about our lives, We need to listen to be taught His statutes.

“Help me understand the meaning of Your precepts so that I can meditate on Your wonders.”
Psalms 119:27 HCSB

When the humble man approaches God he is nothing, but God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit bring him an understanding of the Bible.

“I am weary from grief; strengthen me through Your word.”
Psalms 119:28 HCSB

The humble man has seen much sorrow, but he relies on God’s word to see him through.

“Keep me from the way of deceit and graciously give me Your instruction.”
Psalms 119:29 HCSB

When the man is humbled He is susceptible to any teaching, but the one who listens to The Holy Spirit will follow the right teachings of God’s Word.

“I have chosen the way of truth; I have set Your ordinances before me.”
Psalms 119:30 HCSB

He has determined that the word of God is the truth and He diligently seeks to understand it. (Ezra 7:10)

“I cling to Your decrees; Lord, do not put me to shame.”
Psalms 119:31 HCSB

The Humble man depends wholly on God to make him holy. He knows He is nothing without God.

“I pursue the way of Your commands, for You broaden my understanding.”
Psalms 119:32 HCSB

God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble (1 Peter 5:5-7). God gives him an understanding of His Word through The Holy Spirit.

Will we be the humble man who: gets life through the Word, is teachable, will meditate on God’s wonders, is strengthen through the Bible, will be given instruction, chooses the way of truth, clings to God’s law, and pursues God’s way?
