In Christ our sins are forgiven and forgotten. If we confess that we have sinned and commit to do better, that is true repentance (1 John 1:5-10, Ezekiel 18:30-23, Isaiah 43:25). Then our sins are truly forgiven. Yes Jesus died on the cross to forgive everyone's sins, but until we believe that for ourselves then our sins are not forgiven. We do not loose our salvation every time we sin because that would be bondage and not freedom in Christ. We also do not have a license to sin as often as we want. God will deal with us with our own measure of grace (Ephesians 4:7). God wants His children to be holy and righteous. Jesus lived as the example for us to live a holy life. We live a righteous life because the world is watching us for an example of Christ that makes God appealing to them. We are to be a good example in word and deed before the world (Colossians 3:17).
