David was looking for peace. Through David's faithfulness to God, God promised peace in the land in Leviticus 26:3-8. If God's people remain faithful to God's word then God promised about 10 things in Leviticus 26:3-8 that He will do for them. So now David is reminding God of His promise concerning those who are faithful. Because of God's faithful love He will because He keeps His promises (Numbers 23:19). We must do our part! And God will do His part!
