2 Timothy 4:4 (CSB) They will turn away from hearing the truth and will turn aside to myths.
How quickly does the world forget the truth? Does it take 1,000 years, 100 years, or ONE generation? The children of Israel forgot the truth in 40 days.
Exodus 24:7 (CSB) He then took the covenant scroll and read it aloud to the people. They responded, "We will do and obey all that the LORD has commanded."
Exodus 24:12-15 (CSB) 12 The LORD said to Moses, "Come up to me on the mountain and stay there so that I may give you the stone tablets with the law and commandments I have written for their instruction." 13 So Moses arose with his assistant Joshua and went up the mountain of God. 14 He told the elders, "Wait here for us until we return to you. Aaron and Hur are here with you. Whoever has a dispute should go to them." 15 When Moses went up the mountain, the cloud covered it.
Exodus 24:18 (CSB) Moses entered the cloud as he went up the mountain, and he remained on the mountain forty days and forty nights.
Exodus 32:1 (CSB) When the people saw that Moses delayed in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said to him, "Come, make gods for us who will go before us because this Moses, the man who brought us up from the land of Egypt -- we don't know what has happened to him! "
Exodus 32:7-8 (CSB) 7 The LORD spoke to Moses: "Go down at once! For your people you brought up from the land of Egypt have acted corruptly. 8 "They have quickly turned from the way I commanded them; they have made for themselves an image of a calf. They have bowed down to it, sacrificed to it, and said, 'Israel, these are your gods, who brought you up from the land of Egypt.' "
Moses was spending time with God. Joshua was praying and fasting for Moses and listening for Him to come down the mountain. While the whole rest of the nation was board down at the base of the mountain. And they said, "let us make a god to replace God who has been silent for the past 40 days." But on the contrary God was giving Moses some of the best rules and commands the world has ever seen. If God has been silent for the past few days then get in his word and pray till he speaks to you. Jeremiah 33:3 (CSB) "Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and incomprehensible things you do not know. And then get in fellowship (Hebrews 10:24-25) with other believers so that you may be encouraged and strengthen. Then find a few people to share what God has showed you. Then repeat daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, and over the rest of your life.
