Joshua 1:8 (CSB) "This book of instruction must not depart from your mouth; you are to meditate on it day and night so that you may carefully observe everything written in it. For then you will prosper and succeed in whatever you do.
Deuteronomy 6:5-9 (CSB) 5 "Love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. 6 "These words that I am giving you today are to be in your heart. 7 "Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 "Bind them as a sign on your hand and let them be a symbol on your forehead. 9 "Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your city gates.
Deuteronomy 11:18-28 (CSB) 18 "Imprint these words of mine on your hearts and minds, bind them as a sign on your hands, and let them be a symbol on your foreheads. 19 "Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 20 "Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your city gates, 21 "so that as long as the heavens are above the earth, your days and those of your children may be many in the land the LORD swore to give your fathers. 22 "For if you carefully observe every one of these commands I am giving you to follow -- to love the LORD your God, walk in all his ways, and remain faithful to him -- 23 "the LORD will drive out all these nations before you, and you will drive out nations greater and stronger than you are. 24 "Every place the sole of your foot treads will be yours. Your territory will extend from the wilderness to Lebanon and from the Euphrates River to the Mediterranean Sea. 25 "No one will be able to stand against you; the LORD your God will put fear and dread of you in all the land where you set foot, as he has promised you. 26 "Look, today I set before you a blessing and a curse: 27 "there will be a blessing, if you obey the commands of the LORD your God I am giving you today, 28 "and a curse, if you do not obey the commands of the LORD your God and you turn aside from the path I command you today by following other gods you have not known.
Psalms 78:1-7 (CSB) 1 My people, hear my instruction; listen to the words from my mouth. 2 I will declare wise sayings; I will speak mysteries from the past -- 3 things we have heard and known and that our fathers have passed down to us. 4 We will not hide them from their children, but will tell a future generation the praiseworthy acts of the LORD, his might, and the wondrous works he has performed. 5 He established a testimony in Jacob and set up a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers to teach to their children 6 so that a future generation --children yet to be born -- might know. They were to rise and tell their children 7 so that they might put their confidence in God and not forget God's works, but keep his commands.
