Joshua 1:16 (CSB) They answered Joshua, "Everything you have commanded us we will do, and everywhere you send us we will go.

These men do indeed respect Joshua. Joshua can see God is with him like He said in verse 9.  All because He was strong and courageous. How many of us have this much respect for the leaders in our lives, bosses, pastors, parents (if you still live at home), and government. What does respect for your boss look like? Colossians 3:22 (CSB) Slaves, obey your human masters in everything. Don't work only while being watched, as people-pleasers, but work wholeheartedly, fearing the Lord.
What does respect for your pastor look like? Exodus 22:28 (CSB)
"You must not blaspheme God or curse a leader among your people. What does respect for your parents look like? Colossians 3:20 (CSB) Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord. What does respect for your government look like? Romans 13:1 (CSB) Let everyone submit to the governing authorities, since there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are instituted by God. (Romans 13:1-7) I do believe God loves it when respect authority. Those of us who are in authority (bosses, pastors, parents, and government) should pay attention to: Colossians 4:1, Matthew 18:6, Colossians 3:21, John 19:11.
