Matthew 18:20 (CSB) "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, I am there among them."
How many times do we gather in Jesus name? How many times should we gather in His name? I would guess at the most of 2 or 3 times in a week when we go to church (Sunday morning, Sunday night, and Wednesday night). Can I say that the early church gathered daily in His name.
Acts 2:44-47 (CSB) 44 Now all the believers were together and held all things in common. 45 They sold their possessions and property and distributed the proceeds to all, as any had need. 46 Every day they devoted themselves to meeting together in the temple, and broke bread from house to house. They ate their food with joyful and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. Every day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved.
There is many things that happened to the church while they meet every day.
First they held all things in common. Whoever lacked was helped that day.
Second they worshiped God in the temple. They wanted as much of God as they could get.
Third they moved to each and every house to eat. Eat a meal and to eat the communion bread and drink the communion drink. This allowed the nonbelievers to see Jesus in action.
Fourth they encouraged each other. Time spent away from the fellowship of other Christians will draw your relationship with Jesus father apart.
Fifth they saw many people getting saved and joining in the fellowship.
I know it is hard to get together with God's people everyday. I am even guilty of not going on Wednesday nights. But maybe we need to be more disciplined to make it a point 4 to 7 days a week to get together in Jesus name with other Christians. Maybe then the church could experience growth like not seen since the days of the early church in Acts 1 through 28. We don't need to gather the whole church we just need 2 or 3. (Titus 2:2-8, Hebrews 3:13, Hebrews 10:24-25, 1 John 1:3)
