Acts 1:6 (CSB) So when they had come together, they asked him, "Lord, are you restoring the kingdom to Israel at this time? "

Could the disciples still be looking for the messiah to release Israel from the Romans? Don't they understand that Jesus' kingdom is not of this world, but in the hearts of man?

John 18:36 (CSB)
"My kingdom is not of this world," said Jesus. "If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would fight, so that I wouldn't be handed over to the Jews. But as it is, my kingdom is not from here."

Matthew 6:10-11 (CSB) 10 "Your kingdom come. Your will be done 11 "on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread.

For Jesus' kingdom is not just in heaven, but here on earth. Whenever a man or woman gets God they try to limit Him, but whenever God gets the man or woman God changes them and helps them soar! The disciples were just looking for a simple thing, Israel, but Jesus was looking for something Bigger, the world! Israel had already rejected Him as their Lord and Savior so now He is turning his attention away from the Jews and toward the Gentiles. He still longs to gather them under His wing, but they have yet to gather there. But whosoever will call on the name of Jesus will be saved (Joel 2:32, Acts 2:21, Romans 10:13)!
