Romans 1:16 (CSB) For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, and also to the Greek.
What is the Gospel?
The just and gracious God of the universe looked upon hopelessly sinful people and sent His Son, Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, to bear His wrath against sin on the cross and to show His power over sin in the resurrection so that all who turn and trust in Him will be reconciled to God forever. Copied from http://radical.net/the-gospel/. This sentence was quoted by David Platt and is not my own. Each of us my have our own version of what is the Gospel. Romans 1:16 tells us "it IS The Power Of God FOR Salvation". The definition we set as our what is the Gospel will lead us to live life. If we say the gospel is a get out of hell free card we will live as we want because we are safe from hell. If we say the Gospel is the death of Jesus. Then we will miss out on the life Jesus has to offer. If it is that we must accept Jesus to have Eternal life. We loose the fact that we were hopelessly lost in sin and we need Jesus. So what is mine? Before I found this one it would have been: the Gospel is the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus for all mankind to believe on Him as their Savior (to be saved from sin) and Lord (to do as He says).
What is your "what is the Gospel" statement?
