Romans 1:21 (CSB) For though they knew God, they did not glorify him as God or show gratitude. Instead, their thinking became worthless, and their senseless hearts were darkened.
I think back to the time the Israelites were walking in the desert with Moses and they became hungry for something other than the manna that God had provided. They began to want meat. They wanted it so bad that they were willing to go to slavery in Egypt to get it. So then God heard their cries for meat. And he gave them quail everywhere. But they did not stop to thank God for providing the quail. And God's anger burned against them. And He killed a bunch of of them (Numbers 11). We all can get in that trap of wanting more than what God has given.
Exodus 16:28 (CSB) Then the LORD said to Moses, "How long will you refuse to keep my commands and instructions?
Numbers 11:23 (CSB) The LORD answered Moses, "Is the LORD's arm weak? Now you will see whether or not what I have promised will happen to you."
We have to keep God's instructions and commands then wait for His blessings and promises. When we want the blessings of God before we do the actions God wants for us then we have become worthless in our thinking, and our hearts have become senseless.
2 Timothy 3:1-5 (CSB) 1 But know this: Hard times will come in the last days. 2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, proud, demeaning, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 unloving, irreconcilable, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, without love for what is good, 4 traitors, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 holding to the form of godliness but denying its power. Avoid these people.
