Isaiah 53:6 (CSB) 6 We all went astray like sheep; we all have turned to our own way; and the LORD has punished him for the iniquity of us all.
We love to do our own thing. Proverbs 14:12 says (CSB)
There is a way that seems right to a person, but its end is the way to death. There is two people that we have in the bible that we do not see their shortcomings. One man was perfect. That man is Jesus. The other man was not perfect but God never allowed us to see any flaws in his life. That man is Joseph the son of Jacob, Israel. Every other person has messed up, slipped up, or did not know any better. Everyone has at one time or another has done their own thing. God uses imperfect people to accomplish His perfect purpose. We are to strive to be holy, perfect, and righteous people, but in reality only the blood of Jesus makes us Holy, Perfect, and Righteous. If we have been, if we are, if we will be flawed why does God want to use us? Because He wants to have fellowship with us. He wants to be a father to us. He wants to be our friend. He wants to be our God!
Exodus 20:5-6 (CSB) 5 Do not bow in worship to them, and do not serve them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the fathers' iniquity, to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me, 6 but showing faithful love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commands.
Exodus 6:7 (CSB)
"I will take you as my people, and I will be your God. You will know that I am the LORD your God, who brought you out from the forced labor of the Egyptians.
John 15:15 (CSB)
"I do not call you servants anymore, because a servant doesn't know what his master is doing. I have called you friends, because I have made known to you everything I have heard from my Father.
Matthew 23:9 (CSB) "Do not call anyone on earth your father, because you have one Father, who is in heaven.
