Romans 6:12 (CSB) Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, so that you obey its desires.

If sin is reigning in our bodies we have given it a place to sit, a throne. That throne is for Jesus. It is that God shaped hole that we try to fill with everything else but God. If sin is sitting on the throne of Jesus reigning our lives we only have two options. We can either let it continue to sit and grown into death or we can repent and dethrone it. When we let it grow we are setting ourselves up for God to give us a depraved mind.

Romans 1:28-32 (CSB) 28 And because they did not think it worthwhile to acknowledge God, God delivered them over to a corrupt mind so that they do what is not right. 29 They are filled with all unrighteousness, evil, greed, and wickedness. They are full of envy, murder, quarrels, deceit, and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, arrogant, proud, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31 senseless, untrustworthy, unloving, and unmerciful. 32 Although they know God's just sentence -- that those who practice such things deserve to die -- they not only do them, but even applaud others who practice them.

Or we can repent and give the throne back to God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit and continue to keep sin off of the throne.

Exodus 29:45 (CSB)
"I will dwell among the Israelites and be their God.

James 4:5 (CSB)
Or do you think it's without reason that the Scripture says: The spirit he made to dwell in us envies intensely?

God is not quick to judge us for our sins but He is patient with us. He will teach us what is right. He will rebuke us when we start getting off track. He will tell/show us how to get turned around so that we my walk in his will. He will show us how to stay in his will (2 Timothy 3:16). God will not force you to repent but He will make it hard to live in sin. He wants us to repent. He wants us as a friend and as a servant and as sons and daughters.

Ezekiel 18:30 (CSB)
"Therefore, house of Israel, I will judge each one of you according to his ways." This is the declaration of the Lord GOD. "Repent and turn from all your rebellious acts, so they will not become a sinful stumbling block to you.

Acts 2:37-38 (CSB) 37 When they heard this, they were pierced to the heart and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles: "Brothers, what should we do? " 38 Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 3:19 (CSB)
"Therefore repent and turn back, so that your sins may be wiped out,

The devil started out as a crafty serpent in the Garden of Eden and he is growing into a dragon. The more we let sin live in our bodies the more we let sin and always when sin is fully grown it causes death.

James 1:15 (CSB)
Then after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin, and when sin is fully grown, it gives birth to death.

Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, so that you obey its desires. Romans 6:12 (CSB)
