“However, do this with gentleness and respect, keeping your conscience clear, so that when you are accused, those who denounce your Christian life will be put to shame.” 1 Peter 3:16 HCSB
We need to live a live with integrity. Integrity is doing the right thing all the time. Integrity is said to be doing the right thing when no one else is looking. But God is always looking and watching. Why should we live with integrity all the time? So that the people that are watching your life will have no accusation against you but that you are a christian. Joseph had this figured out in Genesis. Joseph was purchased for Potiphar’s servant. Joseph did not sulk. He continued to serve God. As Joseph grew in his righteousness all the house of Potiphar prospered too. When Joseph was tempted by Potiphar’s wife he stood on his convictions and refused her (Genesis 39:1-10). Joseph is one of the people in the Bible who we never see His downfalls.
Another man who had integrity among the people is Daniel. Daniel was promoted to the highest position among the chief counselors. The other chief counselors did not like that Daniel was in fact in a position of Power, like today the world does not want Christians in government. So they had to conceive a plan that would certainly put Daniel out of power. And that plan was to make a rule that made it illegal to pray or worship anyone other then the king. Daniel was in a tight spot, but He did not waver, he was to either stop praying three times daily or he would face the lions den. He choose God’s way and continued to pray. And He did face the lions den but God helped him out and shut the mouths of the lions. (Daniel 6).
“If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat, and if he is thirsty, give him water to drink; for you will heap burning coals on his head, and the Lord will reward you.”
If we love people the way God Loves people then the world will hate us or love us. The world will either not be able to stand our niceness or they will welcome it. In the end they will know that truly we are followers of Jesus (John 13:34-35).
