“Now that He has gone into heaven, He is at God’s right hand with angels, authorities, and powers subject to Him.” 1 Peter 3:22 HCSB
Why do good people suffer? Because God allows it to happen because He wants to bring them into His plan. We have two choices, we can become bitter and give up on God or we can be better and grow into maturity in God. Jesus suffered He was the ultimate good person and now He sits on the second highest throne in the whole universe. God promises to these who persevere till the end:
““Anyone who has an ear should listen to what the Spirit says to the churches. I will give the victor the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in God’s paradise.”

Revelation 3:12 HCSB
http://bible.com/72/rev.3.12.hcsb

But sometimes it is hard to see past our suffering to eternity to hold on to future promises in heaven. So God also helps He gives us life here and now.
“A thief comes only to steal and to kill and to destroy. I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance.”
John 10:10 HCSB
http://bible.com/72/jhn.10.10.hcsb
“We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God: those who are called according to His purpose. For those He foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brothers. And those He predestined, He also called; and those He called, He also justified; and those He justified, He also glorified.”
