“And our people must also learn to devote themselves to good works for cases of urgent need, so that they will not be unfruitful.” Titus 3:14 HCSB

See a need Fill a need is a quote from the movie “Robots”.  The idea is that if you see a lack in some other person’s life and you can help then help. Good works of urgent need does not need much prayer. If it will help and you can help then do it.  Now if the urgent need happens over and over this might take some prayer to find the root of the problem and the real solution to help.  The man outside the temple in Acts 3 had an urgent need of money and people kept helping him but Peter saw that he had a bigger need. A need to walk, a need to earn his own money. Peter responded to the urgent with much more then money he responded with Jesus.

“And a man who was lame from birth was carried there and placed every day at the temple gate called Beautiful, so he could beg from those entering the temple complex. When he saw Peter and John about to enter the temple complex, he asked for help. Peter, along with John, looked at him intently and said, “Look at us.” So he turned to them, expecting to get something from them. But Peter said, “I don’t have silver or gold, but what I have, I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, get up and walk! ””

Now that the man could walk i bet he would then give as much as he could to help others in the same need and maybe he even healed other too.

“The thief must no longer steal. Instead, he must do honest work with his own hands, so that he has something to share with anyone in need.”

If we over think an urgent need then we will talk ourselves out of doing it. I heard a quote by Skip from the Skip and Amy Klove morning show on January 18th “Pooh has all heart and little brain.” That is he is willing to help his friends with out over thinking it.  See a need fill a need with out overthinking it.
