“But avoid foolish debates, genealogies, quarrels, and disputes about the law, for they are unprofitable and worthless.” Titus 3:9 HCSB
Could all these be reasons why we have so many false churches and prophets. Rather than focusing on Jesus and good works they want to focus on who they might be descended from, or about one line in the the Bible that they disagree with, or a fight they had with people from their former church, or they have reasoned inside them selves that they are right in their view of the Word of God or the world. They may be persuasive in their words but if their theology is wrong they are following the wrong Jesus. Paul says to follow Him as he is following Jesus (1 Corinthians 11:1). I wish this was the standard anybody lived by when following someone.
Shouldn't we rather line our lives up with God and His Word. The Bible does not say my path is a light to your word. But rather it says "your word is a light to my path." (Psalm 119:105) When we take out of the Word what we don't like then we take out many blessings God has promised to us. Imagine taking a knife and cutting out your least favorite verse of the Bible. What is on the other page right behind it? For example. If i was to cut out matthew 8:33 as an example out my bible i would then cut out Matthew 9:9.
"Then the men who tended them fled. They went into the city and reported everything — especially what had happened to those who were demon-possessed."

"As Jesus went on from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax office, and He said to him, "Follow Me! " So he got up and followed Him."

Then I will miss the call of matthew. And I f matthew was never called then I would not enjoy the book of Matthew and the challenge in Matthew 28:18-20.
"Then Jesus came near and said to them, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.""

I would then be guilty of doing exactly what Revelation says to not do.
"I testify to everyone who hears the prophetic words of this book: If anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book. And if anyone takes away from the words of this prophetic book, God will take away his share of the tree of life and the holy city, written in this book."
Revelation 22:18-19 HCSB

No matter how much I may not like some of the Bible I must respect it as God's Word. All scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correction and training in righteousness! (2 Timothy 3:16)
