“Life was in Him, and that life was the light of men.” John 1:4 HCSB
Life is found in no one else but Jesus. Life is not found in anything here on earth, relationships, food, drink or stuff. Life is found in a personal relationship with Jesus. Jesus came to give us life in abundance (John 10:10). The life Jesus gives then gives us a light to show other people what following God is like. The world is looking for a light to follow. They will follow their friends into darker places. Or they can follow us into the light of life. Do we project a positive light, a positive relationship with Jesus? Or a poor imitation light that looks like Life and Light, but is really darkness masked by light? Or do we not care and the world has completely extinguished our light and we are following their darkness?
"The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today is Christians who acknowledge Jesus with their lips and walk out the door and deny Him by their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable." — Brennan Mannin (copied from wikipedia.org)
Why would anyone want to follow a god whose believes don't even follow him? Has God changed our life in the past? Am I a different person I was yesterday? Last year? Before I found Jesus? Does my world know that I am a Christian? Am I portraying the current Light to those around Me?
"Therefore, as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, overflowing with gratitude."
Colossians 2:6-7 HCSB
