“According to God’s grace that was given to me, I have laid a foundation as a skilled master builder, and another builds on it. But each one must be careful how he builds on it.” 1 Corinthians 3:10 HCSB https://www.bible.com/72/1co.3.10.hcsb
Every Church needs to be built on Jesus! On every word of Jesus! On Jesus as the Word! When we let our church violate the word of God, then we are treading on thin ice. And once your on ice it is hard to stop sliding down hill. If we follow a man or woman because of a title we may be following the wrong person. Better yet follow a man or woman because they are follow God. Paul did not expect the churches He was founding and helping to follow him just because he was Paul but he wanted them to follow his example, his foundation, his life because He was following God.
“Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for God’s glory. Give no offense to the Jews or the Greeks or the church of God, just as I also try to please all people in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of many, so that they may be saved.”
“Imitate me, as I also imitate Christ.”

Some people did not just take Paul's word that he was following God, but they searched the Bible to see if Paul was indeed following God.
“As soon as it was night, the brothers sent Paul and Silas off to Berea. On arrival, they went into the synagogue of the Jews. The people here were more open-minded than those in Thessalonica, since they welcomed the message with eagerness and examined the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so. Consequently, many of them believed, including a number of the prominent Greek women as well as men. But when the Jews from Thessalonica found out that God’s message had been proclaimed by Paul at Berea, they came there too, agitating and disturbing the crowds.”
Acts 17:10-13 HCSB

Please note that this was not easy for them. When they had heard Paul and studied for themselves and believed that several Jews from a near by town came to stir things up. Paul had to be rushed out to be kept safe. Know that when you make Jesus your lord and start following God, the devil then becomes your enemy and will work hard to keep you in bondage to keep you from serving God. But then let that bondage encourage you to press harder to God.
Remember this Jesus is the cornerstone for His Church. He is the one who decides what will be built upon Him. To one side He uses the Old Testament to form half of His foundation. To His other side is the New Testament for the other half of His foundation. After that Jesus allows others to build up His church. Each stone is supported by two stones and that stone also supports two others.
When the church does not follow the Old Testament and the New Testament we run the risk of collapsing our part of the church.
“For look, the wicked string the bow; they put the arrow on the bowstring to shoot from the shadows at the upright in heart. When the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do? ””

“Some of you will rebuild the ancient ruins; you will restore the foundations laid long ago; you will be called the repairer of broken walls, the restorer of streets where people live.”
Isaiah 58:12 HCSB

Which one will you be? Will you tear down the foundation of Jesus? Or will you build up the foundation of Jesus?
