“For we are God’s coworkers. You are God’s field, God’s building.” 1 Corinthians 3:9 HCSB
We, Paul and Apollos, worked with God. You are the ones who read this letter. It may have been to the church at Corinth, but Paul never wanted his letters to stay at that church. They had to pass it on other churches and then they would get the letter that church had (1 Thessalonians 5:27, Colossians 4:16, 1 Corinthians 16:3-4). You are a pot molded by the potter. You the Church. You are a field. Everyone one is a field. And it depends on how ready you are to be given the word of God.
“Then He told them many things in parables, saying: “Consider the sower who went out to sow. As he was sowing, some seed fell along the path, and the birds came and ate them up. Others fell on rocky ground, where there wasn’t much soil, and they sprang up quickly since the soil wasn’t deep. But when the sun came up they were scorched, and since they had no root, they withered. Others fell among thorns, and the thorns came up and choked them. Still others fell on good ground and produced a crop: some 100, some 60, and some 30 times what was sown.”

Are we a worn down path that is too hard headed to even hear what God is tell us. Are we rocky being polluted with the world that we have no room left for God’s word to take root in us. Are we a field that looks ready but then we have too many other concerns that grow up with the Word of God to choke out all of the Word of God. Or are we a field prepped and ready to hear, read, study, memorize, meditate and apply the Word of God God is speaking to us.
“My hand made all these things, and so they all came into being. This is the Lord’s declaration. I will look favorably on this kind of person: one who is humble, submissive in spirit, and trembles at My word.”

The five fold ministry works with God to accomplish this in every other believer.
“And He personally gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, for the training of the saints in the work of ministry, to build up the body of Christ, until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of God’s Son, growing into a mature man with a stature measured by Christ’s fullness.”

Here is the best part. We are all called to be one of these five to build Jesus’ church, with God’s word, with the help of the Holy Spirit. You are not alone and will never be when your working God’s job for your life. Be a field ready for God’s word. Be ready to give away what God tells you to give.
