““I assure you: Anyone who hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not come under judgment but has passed from death to life.” John 5:24 HCSB

This is assurance #2 out of 3 (verses 19, 24,and 25)

Is it enough to just hear the words of Jesus and believe in God to be saved. Yes and no. Yes that is all it takes to get saved, but that is not all Jesus wants from us after we are saved. He wants our actions to line up with His word. He wants willing loyal servants.

“In the same way, when you have done all that you were commanded, you should say, ‘We are good-for-nothing slaves; we’ve only done our duty.’ ””

Is your assurance based on a one time event when you became a christian or is it proved by the way you live your life for Jesus? I saw a church sign that read, “Jesus died for you, now live for Him.”
