“I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth.” 1 Corinthians 3:6 HCSB

Paul goes in first as the evangelist then Apollos follows up by being the disciple maker. He came in to build upon what Paul had laid. This picture was mirrored in today generation. Billy Graham came into many cities and lead many people to salvation through this crusades. But then he saw that upon the second visit that many of the same people needed salvation again. He then contacted The Navigators to come along and follow up to build a solid relationship between these people and Jesus. The relationship between Billy Graham and The Navigators can be read here.

If anything is my focus it is discipleship and the word of God. I do admit I am not disciplining any one on a one on one basis as The Navigators teach as Jesus examples. But my desire for “My Quiet Time Thoughts” is that in someway I can help encourage more people to developed a life long commitment to live as a disciple for Jesus and to read The Bible as their teacher, rebuker, corrector, and trainer.

“And He personally gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, for the training of the saints in the work of ministry, to build up the body of Christ,”

“But as for you, continue in what you have learned and firmly believed. You know those who taught you, and you know that from childhood you have known the sacred Scriptures, which are able to give you wisdom for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”

“Therefore, brothers, since we have boldness to enter the sanctuary through the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way He has opened for us through the curtain (that is, His flesh ), and since we have a great high priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed in pure water. Let us hold on to the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. And let us be concerned about one another in order to promote love and good works, not staying away from our worship meetings, as some habitually do, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day drawing near.”

Paul had his job to do. Apollos had his job to do. But both men had to trust God to do His work and direct them how to best do their jobs.

“And He personally gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, for the training of the saints in the work of ministry, to build up the body of Christ, until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of God’s Son, growing into a mature man with a stature measured by Christ’s fullness.”
