“But the unbeliever does not welcome what comes from God’s Spirit, because it is foolishness to him; he is not able to understand it since it is evaluated spiritually.” 1 Corinthians 2:14 HCSB https://www.bible.com/72/1co.2.14.hcsb

The person who is not walking with The Spirit cannot understand how the spirit is operating. The unbeliever here don’t not just refer to the nonChristian, but the Christian who does not believe in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit also.  These people see the works of the spirit as foolishness. They see speaking in tongues, healings and miracles as “off” or not from God. They are just misinformed and miss-guided.

“A demonstration of the Spirit is given to each person to produce what is beneficial: to one is given a message of wisdom through the Spirit, to another, a message of knowledge by the same Spirit, to another, faith by the same Spirit, to another, gifts of healing by the one Spirit, to another, the performing of miracles, to another, prophecy, to another, distinguishing between spirits, to another, different kinds of languages, to another, interpretation of languages. But one and the same Spirit is active in all these, distributing to each person as He wills.”

1 Corinthians 12:7-11 HCSB

The gift of prophecy is something that these two people can believe in. They hear the word given and they will believe when it happens.

“For the person who speaks in another language is not speaking to men but to God, since no one understands him; however, he speaks mysteries in the Spirit. But the person who prophesies speaks to people for edification, encouragement, and consolation. The person who speaks in another language builds himself up, but he who prophesies builds up the church. I wish all of you spoke in other languages, but even more that you prophesied. The person who prophesies is greater than the person who speaks in languages, unless he interprets so that the church may be built up.

It follows that speaking in other languages is intended as a sign, not for believers but for unbelievers. But prophecy is not for unbelievers but for believers. Therefore, if the whole church assembles together and all are speaking in other languages and people who are uninformed or unbelievers come in, will they not say that you are out of your minds? But if all are prophesying and some unbeliever or uninformed person comes in, he is convicted by all and is judged by all. The secrets of his heart will be revealed, and as a result he will fall facedown and worship God, proclaiming, “God is really among you.””

Our focus does not need to be speaking in tongues, but on prophecy. Tongues is good but prophecy is better. Tongues can be used in 3 different ways.

1.  Witnessing to someone who does not speak your language (Acts 2).

2.  Praying to God (Romans 8:26).

3.  Giving a message from God to the church with interpretation (1 Corinthians 14:5).

The uninformed or the unbelievers cannot understand The Spirit, but the true believers, and those who are filled can because they can discern if it comes from God or not.

Be careful what we call not from God when the Spirit moves in you mist. You might just be blaspheming the Holy Spirit. My definition of blaspheming the Holy Spirit is calling what the Holy Spirit of God is doing as a work of the devil. When we call the work of the devil as a move of God we then lift the devil up as God. Both are bad news. To blaspheme The Holy Spirit is the unforgivable sin. To lift the devil up to God’s level is to bring God down. Instead we need to be asking God “if this currant move is from God or not.”

If you find yourself as an unbeliever or as uniformed seek after God for your salvation and understanding. God is going to pour out His Spirit again on all flesh in these last days before He sends Jesus back to call His own up to where He is.

“After this I will pour out My Spirit on all humanity; then your sons and your daughters will prophesy, your old men will have dreams, and your young men will see visions. I will even pour out My Spirit on the male and female slaves in those days. I will display wonders in the heavens and on the earth: blood, fire, and columns of smoke. The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the great and awe-inspiring Day of the Lord comes. Then everyone who calls on the name of Yahweh will be saved, for there will be an escape for those on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, as the Lord promised, among the survivors the Lord calls.”

“But Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice, and proclaimed to them: “Men of Judah and all you residents of Jerusalem, let me explain this to you and pay attention to my words. For these people are not drunk, as you suppose, since it’s only nine in the morning. On the contrary, this is what was spoken through the prophet Joel: And it will be in the last days, says God, that I will pour out My Spirit on all humanity; then your sons and your daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams. I will even pour out My Spirit on My male and female slaves in those days, and they will prophesy. I will display wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth below: blood and fire and a cloud of smoke. The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the great and remarkable Day of the Lord comes. Then everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. “Men of Israel, listen to these words: This Jesus the Nazarene was a man pointed out to you by God with miracles, wonders, and signs that God did among you through Him, just as you yourselves know ... “God has resurrected this Jesus. We are all witnesses of this. Therefore, since He has been exalted to the right hand of God and has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit, He has poured out what you both see and hear.”

He did it once in the first century He is doing it now. He will do it in the last century (which may be now).
