“And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 HCSB
Is God required to supply all our needs just because we are Christians or by giving we unlock all our needs? When we look at this individually it sounds like no matter what God will supply all our needs. But included with all the verses in this section it sounds more like when we give to God and rely on Him for our needs that He will supply them.
“When you pray, don’t babble like the idolaters, since they imagine they’ll be heard for their many words. Don’t be like them, because your Father knows the things you need before you ask Him. “Therefore, you should pray like this: Our Father in heaven, Your name be honored as holy. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.”

““This is why I tell you: Don’t worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the sky: They don’t sow or reap or gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you worth more than they? Can any of you add a single cubit to his height by worrying? And why do you worry about clothes? Learn how the wildflowers of the field grow: they don’t labor or spin thread. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was adorned like one of these! If that’s how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and thrown into the furnace tomorrow, won’t He do much more for you — you of little faith? So don’t worry, saying, ‘What will we eat? ’ or ‘What will we drink? ’ or ‘What will we wear? ’ For the idolaters eagerly seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. *But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.* Therefore don’t worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
Matthew 6:25-34 HCSB

God wants us to rely on Him, seek His kingdom and righteousness and not try to strive to do it our selves. I know when I strive to do everything in my own ability i tend to screw it up. But when I lean on God and seek His kingdom He gives me the power to get it done right.
So i don’t think God is required to give us every need just because we are Christians, but those who trust Him for their needs God will supply them.
The goal for our kids is that they will be less reliant on us as parents and go into the world and be prosperous and successful. But with God it is the opposite He wants us to rely on Him more and more as we grow into His righteousness. So really our ultimate goal with our kids is that they will rely less on us and more on God to supply all their needs and that they will lean on the Word of God to bring Prosperity and success in their lives.
“This book of instruction must not depart from your mouth; you are to recite it day and night so that you may carefully observe everything written in it. For then you will prosper and succeed in whatever you do.”

“How happy is the man who does not follow the advice of the wicked or take the path of sinners or join a group of mockers! Instead, his delight is in the Lord’s instruction, and he meditates on it day and night. He is like a tree planted beside streams of water that bears its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.”
