“Balaam proclaimed his poem: Balak, get up and listen; son of Zippor, pay attention to what I say!” Numbers 23:18 HCSB

A message delivered with your name means more than a general messages to the masses. Paul addresses his audience in Acts 26:1,2

“Agrippa said to Paul, “It is permitted for you to speak for yourself.” Then Paul stretched out his hand and began his defense: “I consider myself fortunate, King Agrippa, that today I am going to make a defense before you about everything I am accused of by the Jews,”

In the end of Paul’s defense King Agrippa said he was almost persuaded to follow Jesus.

“Then Agrippa said to Paul, “Are you going to persuade me to become a Christian so easily? ””

I believe this was because Paul know his audience by name.

How much better would our world be if everyone knew everyone by name. I heard a caller on a christian radio station call in and say that every time they have a waiter ot waitress they will great them by name after being introduced and before they leave they will once again say bye with their name.

God knows our name and He calls us by name and He will give us a new name when we endure till the end.

“I know your works — your love, faithfulness, service, and endurance. Your last works are greater than the first.”

“I call you by your name, because of Jacob My servant and Israel My chosen one. I give a name to you, though you do not know Me.”

Isaiah 45:4 HCSB

““Anyone who has an ear should listen to what the Spirit says to the churches. I will give the victor some of the hidden manna. I will also give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name is inscribed that no one knows except the one who receives it.”

Revelation 2:17 HCSB

Also, in Jesus’s example to pray, we are to speak to God using His name.

““Therefore, you should pray like this: Our Father in heaven, Your name be honored as holy.”

Matthew 6:9 HCSB

Jesus was given the name above all names and by His name we are saved.

“For this reason God highly exalted Him and gave Him the name that is above every name,”

“For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
