“Because of the Lord’s faithful love we do not perish, for His mercies never end. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness!” ‭‭Lamentations‬ ‭3:22-23‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

The title of verses 22-24 is the Hebrew letter Ḥet (חֵית) which means archway or courtyard. It is the 8th letter of the Hebrew alphabet. Eight is representative of new beginnings in the Bible. And Ḥet (חֵית) represents the sound “h or ah” like a laugh.

Because of our Lord’s great Love we can laugh at the devil when He tries to get us down because of our yesterdays.

Today is a new day. No matter what, we can run into the welcoming arms of God. His mercy is new each and every morning. This morning is a new beginning to love God with all your heart (emotions), soul (beliefs), mind (knowledge) and strength (ability). 

We are not too righteous to run into the safety of God. In fact that is what makes us righteous. When we run on self-righteousness we tend to trust in our own strength. But when we run into God’s strength we are empowered to do what God wants us to do. 

“The name of Yahweh is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are protected.”

When we trust in our own mind we tend to either rush in too soon or we over think it and do nothing. But when we trust the mind of God we will know exactly when to do it. 

“For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man that is in him? In the same way, no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who comes from God, so that we may understand what has been freely given to us by God.”

When trust in our own soul we tend to over complicate believing in God. We write rules to following God. But if we trust is God’s soul we find that He has all the rules covered; Love God with all your heart, soul, mind and strengthen. Love each other as we much as you would love your own body.  

“Rest in God alone, my soul, for my hope comes from Him.”

When we trust in our heart we tend to follow the wrong things for the wrong motives.  But when we follow God’s heart we will want to obey Him and we will understand that His word (the Bible) and people are at his heart.

“During the time he was in Jerusalem, those days of the Passover Feast, many people noticed the signs he was displaying and, seeing they pointed straight to God, entrusted their lives to him. But Jesus didn’t entrust his life to them. He knew them inside and out, knew how untrustworthy they were. He didn’t need any help in seeing right through them.”

Are we viewing today as another opportunity to live in God’s grace and then live for Him? Or are we viewing today as a day of freedom for the flesh to do as we see fit no matter how it might affect God, others, and ourselves?

“For you were called to be free, brothers; only don’t use this freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but serve one another through love. For the entire law is fulfilled in one statement: Love your neighbor as yourself. But if you bite and devour one another, watch out, or you will be consumed by one another.”
