“God is not a man who lies, or a son of man who changes His mind. Does He speak and not act, or promise and not fulfill?” Numbers 23:19 HCSB
Is there a word from God that you have given up on because It has not happened yet? God WILL do everything on His end! Have you done everything on your end that God has asked you to do? If God has said it, it will happen! Two things can hold back the plan of God, timing and sin. God promised Adam and Eve that He would send a man to crush the head of the serpent.
“I will put hostility between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed. He will strike your head, and you will strike his heel.”

Jesus is that man! But God had to wait 4,000 years to bring him into the world. He had to wait till the timing was perfect. The romans took control of the known world and there was a common language. They had built roads so that the gospel would travel to the farthest reaches of the earth. They had designed the cross as the ultimate torture of the death penalty. If God would have sent Jesus through Eve as her first son there would have been no prophesy to know for sure that he was the messiah.
The promise of Isaac may have been delayed till Ishmael was out of the picture.
“Now the word of the Lord came to him: “This one will not be your heir; instead, one who comes from your own body will be your heir.” He took him outside and said, “Look at the sky and count the stars, if you are able to count them.” Then He said to him, “Your offspring will be that numerous.””

“So Hagar gave birth to Abram’s son, and Abram gave the name Ishmael to the son Hagar had. Abram was 86 years old when Hagar bore Ishmael to him.”

“When Abram was 99 years old, the Lord appeared to him, saying, “I am God Almighty. Live in My presence and be blameless. I will establish My covenant between Me and you, and I will multiply you greatly.””

“Abraham was 99 years old when the flesh of his foreskin was circumcised, and his son Ishmael was 13 years old when the flesh of his foreskin was circumcised.”

“The Lord came to Sarah as He had said, and the Lord did for Sarah what He had promised. Sarah became pregnant and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the appointed time God had told him. Abraham named his son who was born to him — the one Sarah bore to him — Isaac. When his son Isaac was eight days old, Abraham circumcised him, as God had commanded him. Abraham was 100 years old when his son Isaac was born to him.”
Genesis 21:1-5 HCSB

In the end God held up his promise to give Abraham Isaac. God blessed the marriage of Abraham and Sarah that He rescued Sarah twice from another man. So that she would give birth to her first son by Abraham. Timing played a big role in when Isaac would be born, but the sin of Abraham and Hagar may have delayed it by 13 years.
Don’t give up on God’s word for your life, it will happen! If you have been waiting ask God to show you what Is holding back His word from being fulfilled in your life. Then be obedient to do what God has showed you to do.
“I am sure of this, that He who started a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
