“Then Balak told Balaam, “Don’t curse them and don’t bless them! ” Numbers 23:25 HCSB
I love the way the NLT translates this verse.
“Then Balak said to Balaam, “Fine, but if you won’t curse them, at least don’t bless them!”
Numbers 23:25 NLT

Balak hired Balaam to curse the Israelites. Balaam knew that God was with them, but Balak would not stop bugging Balaam until he came. In frustration, he is now doubting that it was worth Balaam coming here to see and curse the Israelites.
In our own lives do we get to this point before we finally give it up wholly to God? Do we get frustrated with plans and desires so we keep trying to make it work before we just give up trying on our own and let go and let God? We often get to our wit's end and finally seek God and give it up to Him. Instead should we not give it to God before we try all of our own measures.
“So, whoever thinks he stands must be careful not to fall. No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to humanity. God is faithful, and He will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation He will also provide a way of escape so that you are able to bear it.”
1 Corinthians 10:12-13 HCSB

God knows we are tempted. He knows we in the flesh are limited, but He has given us His Holy Spirit to wage war against our own flesh. He provides a way out. It is our job to take that open door and shut out the temptation.
“Lord Help us to see the way out of temptation today. Help us to take it. You are faithful to give us the way out, but we are weak and we may not take it. Lord help us to hear your still small voice encouraging us to take the way out. Help us to hear Your Holy Spirit who is directing us closer to You. Help us to look to Jesus who walked in the flesh, but became the example to completely following You.”
