“On that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah: We have a strong city. Salvation is established as walls and ramparts.” Isaiah 26:1 HCSB
A rampart is the part of the wall that the people of the castle or city can stand on to see out over the wall. Not only is salvation a wall that protects us, but it is a firm foundation we can stand on. Salvation is both offensive and defensive. Salvation is the protection under His wings and a solid place to fire back to the enemies arrows in prayer. Salvation is not to be taken lightly but is a privileged standing with God as His sons and daughters. We have a duty to shelter behind the walls of salvation and not venture out into the world of sin. We also have a duty as the watchman on the rampart to see and warn those who are going astray.

Some of us are too busy going outside the walls of salvation that we forget there are people watching us go that are upon the ramparts screaming at us to stop. Others are too busy hiding behind the walls to know that we need to be watching and praying for those who are leaving or are about to enter. While so few of us are up on the walls watching, praying, and screaming for the children of God to enter in. Which one are you today? Which one will you be next year? Which one will be said of you when your life here on this earth is over?
“Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and He told the disciples, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” Taking along Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed.
