“Your dead will live; their bodies will rise. Awake and sing, you who dwell in the dust! For you will be covered with the morning dew, and the earth will bring out the departed spirits.” Isaiah 26:19 HCSB
The difference between verse 14 and verse 19 is God. The dead In the world do not have a hope of resurrection, the dead in Christ do have that hope. It is God’s people who will see life.
In the Old Testament, God’s people was the Jews. He wanted to have a relationship with them so he established the priests to conduct worship and sacrifices to God. But they rejected Him through idol worship. So God sent them away so that peace would be brought to the land and then the nation of Israel was resurrected from the Babylonians.
After many years God brought a different relationship to the Jews. It was no longer a relationship based on sacrifices but of one sacrifice, Jesus. Once again the Jews rejected God’s relationship and rejected Jesus. So the early church took the news out to the Gentiles, to the rest of the world. Those who believe in this new relationship has become God’s people. They have been adopted into the family of God. Where the Jews should have been we are now getting life from God. But God has not written off the Jews, He is waiting on them to find Jesus as their source of relationship to God, along with the rest of the world.
Death is not the end of God’s relationship for His people. God has promised His children a life with Him in heaven. This is the resurrection of His church. Our departed spirits will be taken out of the ground washed off and we will be reunited with our new bodies and with Jesus.
It puzzles me how the Sadducees could not have believed in the resurrection. Isaiah one of their main prophets tells them that they can hope for the resurrection. But they forgot to take the whole world of God in and change there beliefs to match the Word of God. They however may have just read Isaiah 26:14 and said, “There is no resurrection!” And forgot to include verse 19.
We have people who have become “skilled” teachers of the Bible and they tell us how to believe. But they are not teaching the truth of the Word of God, but only the word of God as they see it. This makes me nervous. I want to be teaching the whole Bible and not just the parts that are easy to believe. I want to be transformed by the Word of God and not change the Word of God to fit my beliefs. I hope the same for you. I hope you find good solid Bible teaching and then you study the Bible to see if what they are saying is true.
“As soon as it was night, the brothers sent Paul and Silas off to Berea. On arrival, they went into the synagogue of the Jews. The people here were more open-minded than those in Thessalonica, since they welcomed the message with eagerness and examined the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so. Consequently, many of them believed, including a number of the prominent Greek women as well as men. But when the Jews from Thessalonica found out that God’s message had been proclaimed by Paul at Berea, they came there too, agitating and disturbing the crowds.”

There will always be people who only teach their bible and will try to disrupt sound solid bible teaching.
“For if a person comes and preaches another Jesus, whom we did not preach, or you receive a different spirit, which you had not received, or a different gospel, which you had not accepted, you put up with it splendidly!”

If you have questions about the Bible ask God and He can and will show you three verses to back up what the Bible is saying.
“But if he won’t listen, take one or two more with you, so that by the testimony of two or three witnesses every fact may be established.”

In verse 14 I shared the the word of God and People are the only things we can touch here on earth that will live for eternity. I shared a few verses that showed how the Word of God was eternal. I will not include some of the verses that show how we are eternal creatures.
“For this is the will of My Father: that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”
This is the bread that comes down from heaven so that anyone may eat of it and not die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread he will live forever. The bread that I will give for the life of the world is My flesh.”
Anyone who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day, because My flesh is real food and My blood is real drink. The one who eats My flesh and drinks My blood lives in Me, and I in him. Just as the living Father sent Me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on Me will live because of Me. This is the bread that came down from heaven; it is not like the manna your fathers ate — and they died. The one who eats this bread will live forever.””

“Keep your attention on Jesus Christ as risen from the dead and descended from David. This is according to my gospel. I suffer for it to the point of being bound like a criminal, but God’s message is not bound. This is why I endure all things for the elect: so that they also may obtain salvation, which is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory. This saying is trustworthy: For if we have died with Him, we will also live with Him; if we endure, we will also reign with Him; if we deny Him, He will also deny us; if we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.”

“After this I looked, and there was a vast multitude from every nation, tribe, people, and language, which no one could number, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were robed in white with palm branches in their hands.”

“Father, I desire those You have given Me to be with Me where I am. Then they will see My glory, which You have given Me because You loved Me before the world’s foundation.”
