“because the Spirit’s law of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.” Romans 8:2 HCSB

Why is, therefore, no condemnation for those who are in Christ. Because the Spirit’s law of Life rules in our bodies and the Law of sin and death has been kicked out. 

So what is the law of life? And what is the law of sin and death? 

The law of Life is of the Holy Spirit. Because the Holy Spirit is living in us He gives us the ability to live according to the spirit and not the flesh. 

The law of sin and death is that whoever commits sin will die. This was the command God gave to Adam in the garden back in the beginning of time. 

“And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree of the garden, but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for on the day you eat from it, you will certainly die.”

Jesus is the only perfect person to walk on the earth who had no sin and would not die, except He stepped into death to abolish the rule of sin and death. He took the penalty of death so that we will not have to face it, but that we will face life. 

“He made the One who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”
