“And He who searches the hearts knows the Spirit’s mind-set, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.” Romans 8:27 HCSB
Who searches the hearts of men? The Spirit? He knows the Spirit’s mind-set. God? He knows the will of God. Jesus? Yes but all three work together. Jesus searches the heart of man. God the Father has a plan for man. And the Spirit knows how to get him in the plan. And the Spirit intercedes for him according to the plan of God.
Will you be that man or woman? Will you ask God to search your heart and remove the sins in your life?
David did.
“Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my concerns. See if there is any offensive way in me; lead me in the everlasting way.”

And He was known as the king after God’s own heart.
“but now your reign will not endure. The Lord has found a man loyal to Him, and the Lord has appointed him as ruler over His people, because you have not done what the Lord commanded.”

God is searching for His people.
“For this is what the Lord God says: See, I Myself will search for My flock and look for them.”

Will we be people like David, who are after God’s heart? Or will we be like Saul and serve God till He did not show up on his time scedual? Or will you be Jeroboam who never considered following God after God spoke to him?
“I will appoint you, and you will reign as king over all you want, and you will be king over Israel. “ ‘After that, if you obey all I command you, walk in My ways, and do what is right in My sight in order to keep My statutes and My commands as My servant David did, I will be with you. I will build you a lasting dynasty just as I built for David, and I will give you Israel.”

“If these people regularly go to offer sacrifices in the Lord’s temple in Jerusalem, the heart of these people will return to their lord, Rehoboam king of Judah. They will murder me and go back to the king of Judah.” So the king sought advice. Then he made two golden calves, and he said to the people, “Going to Jerusalem is too difficult for you. Israel, here is your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt.” He set up one in Bethel, and put the other in Dan.”

Let us be People like David. Let us be a people who will stand in the gap to prevent people from being taken over.
“David’s conscience troubled him after he had taken a census of the troops. He said to the Lord, “I have sinned greatly in what I’ve done. Now, Lord, because I’ve been very foolish, please take away Your servant’s guilt.”
When David saw the angel striking the people, he said to the Lord, “Look, I am the one who has sinned; I am the one who has done wrong. But these sheep, what have they done? Please, let Your hand be against me and my father’s family.”
The king answered Araunah, “No, I insist on buying it from you for a price, for I will not offer to the Lord my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing.” David bought the threshing floor and the oxen for 20 ounces of silver. He built an altar to the Lord there and offered burnt offerings and fellowship offerings. Then the Lord answered prayer on behalf of the land, and the plague on Israel ended.”

Let us be like David who saught the Lord after his sin before He faced the concenquences of his actions.
“However, because you treated the Lord with such contempt in this matter, the son born to you will die.” Then Nathan went home. The Lord struck the baby that Uriah’s wife had borne to David, and he became ill. David pleaded with God for the boy. He fasted, went home, and spent the night lying on the ground. The elders of his house stood beside him to get him up from the ground, but he was unwilling and would not eat anything with them. On the seventh day the baby died. But David’s servants were afraid to tell him the baby was dead. They said, “Look, while the baby was alive, we spoke to him, and he wouldn’t listen to us. So how can we tell him the baby is dead? He may do something desperate.”
His servants asked him, “What did you just do? While the baby was alive, you fasted and wept, but when he died, you got up and ate food.” He answered, “While the baby was alive, I fasted and wept because I thought, ‘Who knows? The Lord may be gracious to me and let him live.’”

These two passages (2 Samuel 24, and 11-12) are two of David’s weaker moments. And in both, He was at fault. but what He did afterword is evident of his relationship with God. Frist He admitted being the one who was guilty. Then he saught God’s wisdom on how to fix the problem. Third, he acted on it, He bult an alter to pray and worship God and He fasted and pryaed for the baby born to Bathsheba.
Our sin removes us from His presence, but our true heartfelt repentace restores us. When sin is left unrepentant it grows and separates us from God more and more. God does not want that He wants a healed relationship with us and not a broken seperation.
Let us not be the church in Thyatira who committed adultery with Jezebel.
“Look! I will throw her into a sickbed and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of her practices. I will kill her children with the plague., Then all the churches will know that I am the One who examines minds and hearts, and I will give to each of you according to your works.”

Let us repent and turn away from our sins.
Jesus is seaching our hearts. He and the Holy Spirit is seeking God will for our life. The Holy Spirit can and will help us out. We just have to be willing.
