“And not only that, but we ourselves who have the Spirit as the firstfruits — we also groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for adoption, the redemption of our bodies.” Romans 8:23 HCSB
This is the second person groaning. First was the whole creation and third will be the Holy Spirit in verse 26.
The creation groans with birth pains waiting for the sons of God to walk in the Spirit. Now we groan waiting on future adoption. This is the future salvation. We were saved when Jesus becomes our Savior and Lord. We are saved every day by the petitions of Jesus. And we will be saved when we reach Heaven. We were saved from the Sinful nature. We are being saved from attacks from the enemy, We will be saved from his influence.
We look forward to the day when Jesus returns and takes unto Himself His brothers and sisters. Are you ready and watching for His coming and you groaning with anticipation for Him.
“He replied to them, “Who are My mother and My brothers? ” And looking about at those who were sitting in a circle around Him, He said, “Here are My mother and My brothers! Whoever does the will of God is My brother and sister and mother.”

“Now concerning that day or hour no one knows — neither the angels in heaven nor the Son — except the Father. Watch! Be alert! For you don’t know when the time is coming. It is like a man on a journey, who left his house, gave authority to his slaves, gave each one his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to be alert. Therefore be alert, since you don’t know when the master of the house is coming — whether in the evening or at midnight or at the crowing of the rooster or early in the morning. Otherwise, he might come suddenly and find you sleeping. And what I say to you, I say to everyone: Be alert! ””

“For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the archangel’s voice, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are still alive will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words.”
