“Who can separate us from the love of Christ? Can affliction or anguish or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?” Romans 8:35 HCSB
Who can separate us for the love of Christ?
The fact that Jesus loves us is enough for me to follow Him. Feelings come and go. Situations change. knowledge can grow or we can forget things. But the Love of Jesus is constant. He loves us not because we are someone special, but because He loves everyone. We are special to Him.
When you consider the Love of Jesus nothing is as constant as it. Gravity is law, what goes up must come down, but the farther away you get for the center of the earth the longer it takes to come back down. But the Love of Jesus is still there and he never loves us any less or any more. His love is unconditional. His love is Agape love, a love beyond anything we can think.
When Jesus was talking to Peter at breakfast around that fire, He asked, “do you agape love Me, Peter?” (John 21:15-17)
Jesus is wanting us to love him back unconditionally, no matter what happens! Will affliction, anguish, persecution, famine, nakedness, danger or sword cause us to love Jesus any less? I hope not. God knows what He is doing and we have to hang on through all these to His love.
Are we resolved to love Jesus no matter what? Or will we fade in and out with our love of Jesus? Let us resolve in our own hearts to Love Jesus with all our emotions, beliefs, thoughts, and actions. He loves us that much. Should His followers love Him back as much as He loves us?
And then we should be showing this kind of love toward other people. He said that all men will know that we are disciples of Him if we love one another. So often people get upset if we don’t share the same love of sin as they do, and they claim that they are loving and we are hating. The reality is that they are living in erotic love, a love that is only satisfied by the feeling of that love, but we are to love them unconditionally. When we love them no matter what, we can see how God will work in there lives.
“If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat, and if he is thirsty, give him water to drink; for you will heap burning coals on his head, and the Lord will reward you.”
