“At the same time, God also testified by signs and wonders, various miracles, and distributions of gifts from the Holy Spirit according to His will.” Hebrews 2:4 HCSB

Not only did Jesus fulfill all the prophecies of the Old Testament, but He showed up doing great and wonderful signs. He healed the sick. He raised the dead. He mended hearts. He convicted the people around Him with love. And probably greatest of all He arose from the dead and sits at the right hand of God.

To top that off He said we would do greater works.

“I assure you: The one who believes in Me will also do the works that I do. And he will do even greater works than these, because I am going to the Father.”

John 14:12 HCSB

Because He left the world to be with God Jesus sent us the Holy Spirit to help us. So by the Holy Spirit working through us, we are able to do the same works as Jesus did and more.  The same spirit that worked in Jesus is working inside of us. He also works in signs and wonders, but He also works in us by distributing gifts to all.

First He gives the gifts of motivation.

“According to the grace given to us, we have different gifts: If prophecy, use it according to the standard of one’s faith; if service, in service; if teaching, in teaching; if exhorting, in exhortation; giving, with generosity; leading, with diligence; showing mercy, with cheerfulness.”

Romans 12:6-8 HCSB

1.  Prophecy

2.  Service

3.  Teaching

4.  Exhorting

5.  Giving

6.  Leading

7.  Mercy

These are the gifts that motivate or excite us. For me, it is Giving and Serving. No one has to beg me to serve others I do it out of sheer willingness. How about you? How do you see these working in your life?

Next, we receive the works of the spirit working through us.

“A demonstration of the Spirit is given to each person to produce what is beneficial: to one is given a message of wisdom through the Spirit, to another, a message of knowledge by the same Spirit, to another, faith by the same Spirit, to another, gifts of healing by the one Spirit, to another, the performing of miracles, to another, prophecy, to another, distinguishing between spirits, to another, different kinds of languages, to another, interpretation of languages. But one and the same Spirit is active in all these, distributing to each person as He wills.”

1 Corinthians 12:7-11 HCSB

1.  Wisdom

2.  Knowledge

3.  Faith

4.  Healing

5.  Miracles

6.  Prophecy

7.  Distinguishing (discernment)

8.  Different kinds of tongues

9.  Interpretation of those tongues

These are what the Holy Spirit does through you. People may act in all 9 throughout different times of there lives, but typically only one or two are acting in your life right now. What may be acting in my life right now is Knowledge and Faith. Paul desired that Prophecy would work through everyone so that the world would know Jesus.

“Pursue love and desire spiritual gifts, and above all that you may prophesy. For the person who speaks in another language is not speaking to men but to God, since no one understands him; however, he speaks mysteries in the Spirit. But the person who prophesies speaks to people for edification, encouragement, and consolation. The person who speaks in another language builds himself up, but he who prophesies builds up the church. I wish all of you spoke in other languages, but even more that you prophesied. The person who prophesies is greater than the person who speaks in languages, unless he interprets so that the church may be built up.

But if all are prophesying and some unbeliever or uninformed person comes in, he is convicted by all and is judged by all. The secrets of his heart will be revealed, and as a result he will fall facedown and worship God, proclaiming, “God is really among you.”

And last, of all, we receive the call to fill one of five jobs in God’s house.

“And He personally gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers,”

Ephesians 4:11 HCSB

https://www.bible.com/72/eph.4.11.hcsb

1.  Apostle

2.  Prophet

3.  Evangelist

4.  Pastors

5.  Teachers

These are our jobs to do for God. we are all called to be one of these. Your call may not to full-time Pastor, but you may be helping a few people understand the Bible by preaching to them. You may not go out to neighboring churches to preach a revival but you are constantly telling others about Christ and therefore you are acting as an evangelist. your call may do one of these full time you just have not answered your call yet. Mine may be teacher and pastor.

We all have a call, we all have away the Holy Spirit wants to use us in the call. And we have a motivation to keep working in our calling. It is our job to discover what they are and how God wants us to fulfill them.
