“But one has somewhere testified: What is man that You remember him, or the son of man that You care for him? You made him lower than the angels for a short time; You crowned him with glory and honor and subjected everything under his feet.” Hebrews 2:6-8a HCSB

The writer of Hebrews is quoting Psalms 8. 

“what is man that You remember him, the son of man that You look after him? You made him little less than God and crowned him with glory and honor. You made him lord over the works of Your hands; You put everything under his feet:”

Jesus stepped out of heaven down to earth to accomplish God’s will for the entire race of man. He left His throne where He was God and the angels served Him to become a servant Himself. He became an obedient servant and now God is in the process of putting everything under Him. 

“Jesus called them over and said to them, “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles dominate them, and their men of high positions exercise power over them. But it must not be like that among you. On the contrary, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must be a slave to all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life — a ransom for many.””

For a short time, 33 years, Jesus left His throne in heaven to learn about man. He had to put himself in our shoes. The best way to understand another person’s situation is to put yourself in their shoes. Jesus did that for us because He loves us. He had to learn about God. He had to study His Bible. I do believe it came real easy for Him. But He still had to do it. 

We have this short life here on earth. We may see 70 to 100 years as a long time, but it is just a vapor. It is just the hole left in the water after you remove your finger. It is short. Are we willing to serve God and people while we are here? Will we leave a lasting ripple when we are gone? Jesus did! We are still talking about Him 2000 years later. He stepped out of His comfort to be tried, tested, and tempted. And He came out on top. We can too when we stop letting the world dictate to us who we are and what we are to do. 

“Though He was God’s Son, He learned obedience through what He suffered. After He was perfected, He became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey Him,”

When will we step down from our high horse and humble ourselves in the sight of God? That is the time God will use us the most. God does not call the proud, but the humble. God does not call the most qualified, but the one who has to trust and lean on God the most. The people you see serving God with their whole heart will tell you that what they are doing is exactly the opposite of what they were before Jesus.
