“I hate those who are double-minded, but I love Your instruction. You are my shelter and my shield; I put my hope in Your word. Depart from me, you evil ones, so that I may obey my God’s commands. Sustain me as You promised, and I will live; do not let me be ashamed of my hope. Sustain me so that I can be safe and always be concerned about Your statutes. You reject all who stray from Your statutes, for their deceit is a lie. You remove all the wicked on earth as if they were dross; therefore, I love Your decrees. I tremble in awe of You; I fear Your judgments.” Psalms 119:113-120 HCSB

The fifteenth letter of the Hebrew alphabet is "Samekh" (pronounced "sah-mekh") and represents the Lord’s encompassing support and presence.  In light of the all-encompassing presence of God in the world (as represented by the letter Samekh), our primary response should be one of reverent awe and obedience.—Ecclesiastes 12:13

“I hate those who are double-minded, but I love Your instruction.”
Psalms 119:113 HCSB

The psalmist found love in the presence of God and His instructions. He did not find judgment, as he would find among the double-minded crowd.—

“You are my shelter and my shield; I put my hope in Your word.”
Psalms 119:114 HCSB

God’s presence was a place of shelter and hope. The pictograph of Samekh is a lot like a shield. Even today it still looks like a shield.

“Depart from me, you evil ones, so that I may obey my God’s commands.”
Psalms 119:115 HCSB

He wanted a life free of distractions and evil and filled with God. God is always with us but the more we listen to the world the less we hear God.

“Sustain me as You promised, and I will live; do not let me be ashamed of my hope.”
Psalms 119:116 HCSB

He was hanging on a word from God. What are we hanging on to? Are we hanging on the word of God or on a false hope that is found in the world?

“Sustain me so that I can be safe and always be concerned about Your statutes.”
Psalms 119:117 HCSB

The Lord’s encompassing support Is all around us. He will love to put a hedge around those who are in danger. He is Love and wants to show His love toward us. —Job 1:10

“You reject all who stray from Your statutes, for their deceit is a lie.”
Psalms 119:118 HCSB

God’s rejection is conditional on us. If we as individuals or groups stray from God’s statutes He will reject us. If we say we are a Christian but do not follow what God commands He can reject us. I don’t ever what to be in that place. I want to be in the favor of God and not on the outside. —Revelation 3:15-16

“You remove all the wicked on earth as if they were dross; therefore, I love Your decrees.”
Psalms 119:119 HCSB

The wicked want no place in God’s presence while here on earth. God will not allow their presence into His presence for the rest of eternity. The good news is, True repentance will bring you into His presence. Then begin to love his decrees!

“I tremble in awe of You; I fear Your judgments.”
Psalms 119:120 HCSB

God’s presence and power is something to be in awe of. He is the one who holds the world of His hand. Yet He wants a relationship with you and me. We have no right to be there, but because He loves us He welcomes us in.

“When all has been heard, the conclusion of the matter is: fear God and keep His commands, because this is for all humanity.”
Ecclesiastes 12:13 HCSB
