“Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” Matthew 6:10 HCSB

God’s name is holy (verse 9). What about His kingdom and will? I am sure that God’s will is holy in heaven. The angles saw what happened to Satin and his followers. But they don’t serve God as His angles out of trembling fear but because they reverently fear Him as God. God says jump and they know how high.

God’s will can be known for us too. First, we still have the knowledge of good and evil from Adam. The Bible tells us that to know what is right and not to do it is sin (James 4:17). We know right from wrong so why choose wrong?

Second, we have the Holy Spirit. He lives in us and has the personality of God. He is the third person in the trinity. He knows the will of God and can direct us in it.  He is able to guide us in all truth.

“When the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all the truth. For He will not speak on His own, but He will speak whatever He hears. He will also declare to you what is to come.”
John 16:13 HCSB

“Guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; I wait for You all day long.”
Psalms 25:5 HCSB

Third, We have the very heart of God written down for us to be a light unto our path and lamp unto our feet.

“Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light on my path.”
Psalms 119:105 HCSB

“See to it that no one repays evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good for one another and for all. Rejoice always! Pray constantly. Give thanks in everything, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. Don’t stifle the Spirit. Don’t despise prophecies, but test all things. Hold on to what is good. Stay away from every kind of evil.”

1 Thessalonians 5:15-22 HCSB

“For this is God’s will, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality, so that each of you knows how to control his own body in sanctification and honor, not with lustful desires, like the Gentiles who don’t know God.”
1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 HCSB

“Dear friends, I urge you as strangers and temporary residents to abstain from fleshly desires that war against you. Conduct yourselves honorably among the Gentiles, so that in a case where they speak against you as those who do what is evil, they will, by observing your good works, glorify God on the day of visitation. Submit to every human authority because of the Lord, whether to the Emperor as the supreme authority or to governors as those sent out by him to punish those who do what is evil and to praise those who do what is good. For it is God’s will that you silence the ignorance of foolish people by doing good. As God’s slaves, live as free people, but don’t use your freedom as a way to conceal evil. Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the Emperor.”
1 Peter 2:11-17 HCSB

What about God’s kingdom? We have seen some of His will. How can we see His kingdom on earth as it is in heaven?

“Therefore, do not let your good be slandered, for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. Whoever serves Christ in this way is acceptable to God and approved by men.”
Romans 14:16-18 HCSB

“But I will come to you soon, if the Lord wills, and I will know not the talk but the power of those who are inflated with pride. For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power. What do you want? Should I come to you with a rod, or in love and a spirit of gentleness?”
1 Corinthians 4:19-21 HCSB

“He said, therefore, “What is the kingdom of God like, and what can I compare it to? It’s like a mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his garden. It grew and became a tree, and the birds of the sky nested in its branches.” Again He said, “What can I compare the kingdom of God to? It’s like yeast that a woman took and mixed into 50 pounds of flour until it spread through the entire mixture.”
Luke 13:18-21 HCSB

The Kingdom of God works in us when we let go of this world and let God have rule and reign in our bodies. The Kingdom of God is small in the beginning but it grows into every aspect of our lives. And eventually, it will grow into every aspect of the world. Don’t wait for God to make you bow to Him in His kingdom, but let Him rule in your hearts as King now!
