“Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was adorned like one of these!” Matthew 6:29 HCSB

Solomon was

the most decorated king in all Israel. He was the one who built the most decorated temple to God. He had so much wealth that His personal wealth was without number. He made silver worth nothing in His kingdom.

“All of King Solomon’s drinking cups were gold, and all the utensils of the House of the Forest of Lebanon were pure gold. There was no silver, since it was considered as nothing in Solomon’s time,”
1 Kings 10:21 HCSB

“The king made silver as common in Jerusalem as stones, and he made cedar as abundant as sycamore in the Judean foothills.”
1 Kings 10:27 HCSB

But His splendor did not come close to the wildflowers because His heart was turned away from God by His many wives.

The Bible tells us to not just be beautiful on the outside but to be beautiful on the inside.

“Also, the women are to dress themselves in modest clothing, with decency and good sense, not with elaborate hairstyles, gold, pearls, or expensive apparel, but with good works, as is proper for women who affirm that they worship God.”
1 Timothy 2:9-10 HCSB

God whats us to look good, but more importantly He wants our hearts and actions to be pure in His eyes. God will take care of our clothes it is our job to live a life of a fragrant pleasing to God.

In the Old Testament as a sacrifice was a pleasing aroma offering toward God. Our praise, our bodies and our giving are all to be pleasing aromas toward God.

“Therefore, through Him let us continually offer up to God a sacrifice of praise, that is, the fruit of our lips that confess His name.”
Hebrews 13:15 HCSB

“Therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your spiritual worship.”
Romans 12:1 HCSB

“But I have received everything in full, and I have an abundance. I am fully supplied, having received from Epaphroditus what you provided — a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God.”
Philippians 4:18 HCSB

So how can these three actions become a pleasing aroma toward God? it is not in our actions alone, but our attitude. If our heart is in it with the right motivation our actions will be a pleasing aroma toward God.

So do not worry about the next outfit you want to buy, but be concerned about aroma coming out of your praise, your body, and your giving! Make sure it pleasing to God and not just for the people around you.
