“Everyone ate and was filled. Then they picked up 12 baskets of leftover pieces.” Luke 9:17 HCSB

Who had takeout that day of fish and chips? I wonder if that boy that gave up his dinner was able to go to his mom and dad and say, “no more worries mom, Jesus has supplied us with food for the next few days with this basket of bread and fish.”

God said to test Him in giving. He will then give you so much that you will have two choices to keep giving or to build bigger barns.

“Bring the full tenth into the storehouse so that there may be food in My house. Test Me in this way,” says the Lord of Hosts. “See if I will not open the floodgates of heaven and pour out a blessing for you without measure.”
Malachi 3:10 HCSB

“Then He told them a parable: “A rich man’s land was very productive. He thought to himself, ‘What should I do, since I don’t have anywhere to store my crops? I will do this,’ he said. ‘I’ll tear down my barns and build bigger ones and store all my grain and my goods there. Then I’ll say to myself, “You have many goods stored up for many years. Take it easy; eat, drink, and enjoy yourself.” ’ “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life is demanded of you. And the things you have prepared — whose will they be? ’ “That’s how it is with the one who stores up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.”
Luke 12:16-21 HCSB

Choosing to continue to let God use your resources would be the better choice. James Cash Penny tested God in this way by giving back 10% of His revenue. His company has done the same thing since 1902. And today J. C. Penny seems to be growing while other stores are closing down.

Skeptics will point to this verse and say it is impossible to feed 5000+ with five loaves of bread and two fish. But the Bible is here to say that it did happen. All four gospels give the account, but if God said it once then it has happened. But then God will back it up with two or three more verses. God has set the precedent that every fact will be established by two or three witnesses.

Other skeptical stories include:

Noah’s ark. “How could God fit all those animals on such a small boat?” it was not a small boat.

The read sea. “The path that the Israelites traveled over was only inches deep. “ It was much deeper and they crossed through on dry ground with walls of water on each side.

Jesus resurrection: “The disciples stole Jesus’ body and reburied it somewhere else.” Why would Peter and the other disciples die for a lie? And how could 12 ordinary men overtake two Roman trained guards and role a huge stone away?

The Bible is true and trustworthy!

“All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”
2 Timothy 3:16-17 HCSB

“This book of instruction must not depart from your mouth; you are to recite it day and night so that you may carefully observe everything written in it. For then you will prosper and succeed in whatever you do.”
Joshua 1:8 HCSB

“Instead, his delight is in the Lord’s instruction, and he meditates on it day and night.”
Psalms 1:2 HCSB
