“Late in the day, the Twelve approached and said to Him, “Send the crowd away, so they can go into the surrounding villages and countryside to find food and lodging, because we are in a deserted place here.” Luke 9:12 HCSB
In the deserted places is where we find Jesus providing the most.
“This is why I tell you: Don’t worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the sky: They don’t sow or reap or gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you worth more than they?”
Matthew 6:25-26 HCSB
When we don’t have the strength and resources to handle our situation on our own, God shows up and shows off. He provides for us beyond what we need and expects because He loves us beyond what we need and expect. His blessings pour out according to His riches and mercy.
“And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:19 HCSB
God does not supply out of His riches in glory, He supplies according to His riches and glory. If a millionaire was to give to you out of their riches you may get $5, but if they would give you according to their riches they would give you enough to pay off your credit card and car debts.
God has blessed us beyond, “Here have a good life.” He had said that He would provide us with an abundant life.
“A thief comes only to steal and to kill and to destroy. I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance.”
John 10:10 HCSB
The desert season lasts for a short time and after it comes a season of great growth. Consider the sufferings of Job. He was the most wealthy man in his time. The devil was allowed to strip all this from him. During his desert season, he had a wife and 3 friends and 1 young listener. after his desert season was over God blessed Job with twice as much as he had before.
“There was a man in the country of Uz named Job. He was a man of perfect integrity, who feared God and turned away from evil. He had seven sons and three daughters. His estate included 7,000 sheep, 3,000 camels, 500 yoke of oxen, 500 female donkeys, and a very large number of servants. Job was the greatest man among all the people of the east.”
Job 1:1-3 HCSB
“So the Lord blessed the last part of Job’s life more than the first. He owned 14,000 sheep, 6,000 camels, 1,000 yoke of oxen, and 1,000 female donkeys. He also had seven sons and three daughters.”
Job 42:12-13 HCSB
Our church sign reads “In trying times don’t stop trying.” During this trying season don’t give up. hold on to the promises God has given you and He will provide for you.
