“They answered, “John the Baptist; others, Elijah; still others, that one of the ancient prophets has come back.” Luke 9:19 HCSB

The disciples were listening to the same crowd as Herod.

“Herod the tetrarch heard about everything that was going on. He was perplexed, because some said that John had been raised from the dead, some that Elijah had appeared, and others that one of the ancient prophets had risen.”
Luke 9:7-8 HCSB

Jesus did not focus on what the crowd was saying. I am sure He Heard them, But He was concerned what His father was saying about Him. And God wanted a few people to know who He was.

“When all the people were baptized, Jesus also was baptized. As He was praying, heaven opened, and the Holy Spirit descended on Him in a physical appearance like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: You are My beloved Son. I take delight in You!”
Luke 3:21-22 HCSB

“A cloud appeared, overshadowing them, and a voice came from the cloud: This is My beloved Son; listen to Him!”
Mark 9:7 HCSB

Do we listen to the crowds who tell us that God is dead? Or do. Do we listen to other religions who tell us Jesus is not the only way? Or are we listening to God who says that Jesus was His son? Do we take God’s words to heart and take delight in and listen to Jesus?

Jesus changed the world. He offers a new way. He offers the only way to God. He offers a new life that is to be different from the rest of the world. He offers us a holy, power-filled, blessed life! Are we willing to obey Him to live in it?

What God says about Jesus is more important than what the crowds say about HIm! What God says about you is more important than what the world and satan say about you!

“For I know the plans I have for you” — this is the Lord’s declaration — “plans for your welfare, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”
Jeremiah 29:11 HCSB

“I chose you before I formed you in the womb; I set you apart before you were born. I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
Jeremiah 1:5 HCSB

We may not all be called as a prophet to the nations, but we are all called to be something for God. WE just have to seek Him and He will let us what that is.

Start listening to God and stop listening to the world!
