“They did so, and had them all sit down.” Luke 9:15 HCSB

The disciples began to walk through the crowd no doubt saying, “Can we have everyone sit down? And organize yourselves in groups of about 50.”

There was no arguments or grumbling amongst the disciples and the people seemed to obey pretty quickly. Most probably obeyed just because they were asked to. Others obeyed maybe at the rumor that food was involved. And a few stuck around because they knew Jesus only had the five loaves of bread and two fish and wanted to see how Jesus was going feed all of them.

Is your obedience like the disciples’? Yes, Lord. Or one of the few? I want to see how Jesus gets out of this impossible situation. Our obedience to Jesus is rooted in how much we love Him.

“If you love Me, you will keep My commands.

The one who has My commands and keeps them is the one who loves Me. And the one who loves Me will be loved by My Father. I also will love him and will reveal Myself to him.”

Jesus answered, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word. My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.”
John 14:15, 21, 23 HCSB

The more we love and obey Jesus the more He lives with us. Because He loves us He sent the Holy Spirit. The more we obey Him the less we quench the voice of the Spirit.

“And don’t grieve God’s Holy Spirit. You were sealed by Him for the day of redemption.”
Ephesians 4:30 HCSB

“Don’t stifle the Spirit.”
1 Thessalonians 5:19 HCSB

The more we love and obey Jesus the more of Himself we get to experience. John tells us that if all the deeds of Jesus were to be written down all the books in the world could not contain them all. (John 21;25) Jesus did a lot more than what we find in the Bible. He wants to do more in your life as well. Obedience opens you up for Jesus to do more in and with your life.

The More we love Jesus the more we will love God. The more we love God the more He will move into our lives. God is not up in heaven just to judge the world. He walks around looking for someone who will be man or woman who will let Him be their God so that He could call them His children.

“I am about to gather them from all the lands where I have banished them in My anger, rage and great wrath, and I will return them to this place and make them live in safety. They will be My people, and I will be their God. I will give them one heart and one way so that for their good and for the good of their descendants after them, they will fear Me always. “I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will never turn away from doing good to them, and I will put fear of Me in their hearts so they will never again turn away from Me. I will take delight in them to do what is good for them, and with all My heart and mind I will faithfully plant them in this land. “For this is what the Lord says: Just as I have brought all this great disaster on these people, so am I about to bring on them all the good I am promising them. Fields will be bought in this land about which you are saying, ‘It’s a desolation without man or beast; it has been handed over to the Chaldeans! ’”
Jeremiah 32:37-43 HCSB

“And I will give them one heart and put a new spirit within them; I will remove their heart of stone from their bodies and give them a heart of flesh, so they may follow My statutes, keep My ordinances, and practice them. Then they will be My people, and I will be their God.”
Ezekiel 11:19-20 HCSB

“I will place My residence among you, and I will not reject you. I will walk among you and be your God, and you will be My people.”
Leviticus 26:11-12 HCSB

“But to all who did receive Him, He gave them the right to be children of God, to those who believe in His name,”
John 1:12 HCSB
