“And they were all astonished at the greatness of God.” Luke 9:43a HCSB
“They were extremely astonished and said, “He has done everything well! He even makes deaf people hear, and people unable to speak, talk! ””
Mark 7:37 HCSB
Jesus never did anything half-hearted. He was never just going through the motions. He made sure what he did he did with the excellency that His Father would expect. He healed diseases wholly and completely. He cast out demons to the greatest degree. He raised people back to life with the expectation that they would continue with a full life in front of them.
If Jesus had that kind of attitude toward what He did then how should we go about our life, job, and home?
“Slaves, obey your human masters in everything. Don’t work only while being watched, in order to please men, but work wholeheartedly, fearing the Lord. Whatever you do, do it enthusiastically, as something done for the Lord and not for men,”
Colossians 3:22-23 HCSB
“If anyone builds on that foundation with gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay, or straw, each one’s work will become obvious, for the day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire; the fire will test the quality of each one’s work. If anyone’s work that he has built survives, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned up, it will be lost, but he will be saved; yet it will be like an escape through fire.”
1 Corinthians 3:12-15 HCSB
“The Lord God took the man and placed him in the garden of Eden to work it and watch over it.”
Genesis 2:15 HCSB
God wants us to also work with all our heart in whatever place we find ourselves.
Yes, work is part of the curse for man but it was also a job to do before the curse. Work just became harder and less rewarding. But no matter the work we have to do if we do it for God then we will get rewarded for our labor.
“And He said to Adam, “Because you listened to your wife’s voice and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘Do not eat from it’: The ground is cursed because of you. You will eat from it by means of painful labor all the days of your life. It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field. You will eat bread by the sweat of your brow until you return to the ground, since you were taken from it. For you are dust, and you will return to dust.”
Genesis 3:17-19 HCSB
“Our lives last seventy years or, if we are strong, eighty years. Even the best of them are struggle and sorrow; indeed, they pass quickly and we fly away.”
Psalms 90:10 HCSB
We have a set number of years to live on this earth. Why spending it hating it. Rather enjoy your labor and live for God!
