“...But Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, cured the boy, and gave him back to his father.” Luke 9:42b HCSB

But Jesus!

I love it when The Bible has this kind of verse. It shows God, Jesus, or the Holy Spirit dropping into our world to do something special. This time Jesus drove out the evil spirit out of the son. The message to the father was: here is your son healed, go and sin no more.

What are some other But God verses?

“But God proves His own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us!”
Romans 5:8 HCSB

“I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth.”
1 Corinthians 3:6 HCSB

“The patriarchs became jealous of Joseph and sold him into Egypt, but God was with him”
Acts 7:9 HCSB

“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart, my portion forever.”
Psalms 73:26 HCSB

“And the chief priests began to accuse Him of many things. Then Pilate questioned Him again, “Are You not answering anything? Look how many things they are accusing You of! ” But Jesus still did not answer anything, so Pilate was amazed.”
Mark 15:3-5 HCSB

“When those around Him saw what was going to happen, they asked, “Lord, should we strike with the sword? ” Then one of them struck the high priest’s slave and cut off his right ear. But Jesus responded, “No more of this! ” And touching his ear, He healed him.”
Luke 22:49-51 HCSB

“I have baptized you with water, but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
Mark 1:8 HCSB

Jesus does something that we would expect, He gave the son back to the father. I would not expect Jesus to keep the boy and raise him as His own. Just like us with our kids. God gives then to us to raise in the best way we can for Him.

Remember God wants to be a part of our lives as we raise our kids for Him. He is willing to act on their behalf to better their life even though it may be our fault.

“So he got up and went to his father. But while the son was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion. He ran, threw his arms around his neck, and kissed him.”
Luke 15:20 HCSB
