“But they did not welcome Him, because He determined to journey to Jerusalem.” Luke 9:53 HCSB

Just a quick recap. Jesus is traveling to Jerusalem and wants to spend a night or two in a Samaritan town.

As welcoming as Jesus was to the Samaritan’s, this town was not welcoming to Him all because of His final destination, Jerusalem.

Who in our time does not welcome Christians because of our destination, heaven?

“Whoever listens to you listens to Me. Whoever rejects you rejects Me. And whoever rejects Me rejects the One who sent Me.”
Luke 10:16 HCSB

“If the world hates you, understand that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own. However, because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of it, the world hates you. Remember the word I spoke to you: ‘A slave is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will also keep yours. But they will do all these things to you on account of My name, because they don’t know the One who sent Me.”
John 15:18-21 HCSB

If we get rejected by the world that is a good thing. But if we get accepted by the world then that is a bad thing.

When the world rejects us that means we are in line with God. We are following His commands and His word. This also means we are living contrary to the world’s standards. We have made friends with God. And when life gets hard we have a friend in God who will be there for us. And the church of Jesus should be there for us also (Galatians 6:1)

When the world accepts us we have compromised our belief in God in one way or another. We have exchanged the truth of The Word of God for a lie of the world (Romans 1:25).  The world will be glad to party with us, but when our life falls apart they will be glad to laugh and ridicule us.

“Brothers, if someone is caught in any wrongdoing, you who are spiritual should restore such a person with a gentle spirit, watching out for yourselves so you also won’t be tempted.”
Galatians 6:1 HCSB

“They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served something created instead of the Creator, who is praised forever. Amen.”
Romans 1:25 HCSB

Our home is not here on this earth, but it is eternally set in Heaven or Hell. Do not exchange the promises of Heaven for a lie of Hell for your short time here on earth.

Your destination will determine your actions, Jesus’ actions did!
