“He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not only for ours, but also for those of the whole world.” 1 John 2:2 HCSB
Definition of propitiation: the act of gaining or regaining the favor or goodwill of someone or something
“Propitiation.” Merriam-Webster.com Dictionary, Merriam-Webster, https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/propitiation. Accessed 31 May. 2020.
Jesus’s death brought peace between mankind and God. He died for every in the past. He died for every sin in the future. But we must seek out His forgiveness through Jesus and repentance. We can not earn it. We cannot pay our way out of it. We cannot do anything but be obedient to Him. Jesus does not have to die every year as the sheep, bulls, and goats did to cover the sins of the Israelites.
“For Christ also suffered for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, that He might bring you to God, after being put to death in the fleshly realm but made alive in the spiritual realm.”
