“and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the Twelve. Then He appeared to over 500 brothers at one time; most of them are still alive, but some have fallen asleep. Then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15:5-7‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

Why is it important to know that Jesus appeared to Peter, the apostles, 500 believers, James, and all the apostles? This gives almost 600 eyewitnesses of Jesus’ resurrection. If you have 600 people witness the same thing you will be able to draw up a lot of details to get an accurate picture of something. The town of Jerusalem could not escape someone talking about it within the first 40 days till the day of Pentecost.

At the same time, a lie was spreading through the Roman Empire and Jerusalem. A lie that was made up by the spiritual leaders of Israel.

“After the priests had assembled with the elders and agreed on a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money and told them, “Say this, ‘His disciples came during the night and stole Him while we were sleeping.’ If this reaches the governor’s ears, we will deal with him and keep you out of trouble.” So they took the money and did as they were instructed. And this story has been spread among Jewish people to this day.”

There was a buzz of talk about Jesus, the nation was divided hearts were divided, but in the end, the truth won out, Jesus has risen.

As we face uncertain times remember truth will always win. My prayer for times of division and tension is that the truth will be told and the truth-teller will be blessed because of it.

The ultimate truth is this Jesus died on a cross, was buried in a borrowed tomb, was raised to life on the third day, appeared to many people, and now sits at the right hand of God.

If you have never accepted this truth accept it now and be set free from the bondage of sin and live in the Kingdom of God as a child of God.

“So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, you really are My disciples. You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
